Chief Fire Officer, Joseph Joseph, has showered Firefighters Without Borders with praise for its philanthropic gesture to the St Lucia Fire Service.
He did so at a thank you ceremony for its donation of two firetrucks and a considerable quantity of firefighter protective clothing consisting of bunker gears, firefighting boots, helmets and gloves among others to the St Lucia Fire Service.
The ceremony was held at the Vieux-Fort Fire Station, yesterday, Friday, June 3, 2020.
Firefighters Without Borders is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting fire departments in need of specific skills, training and resources related to fire service.
In addressing the ceremony, which was attended by several government officials, Joseph said at a time when so many things appear to be going wrong around the world, it is undoubtedly a privilege to have an occasion to celebrate.
“Firefighters Without Borders is the main reason we are here today. In keeping with the organization’s mandate, it has provided much-needed assistance to the St Lucia Fire Service, and we are here to say a wholehearted thank you to it,” Joseph said.
He added: “This offer, valued at hundreds of thousands of dollars, will not only boost our resource base, but it will also increase our operational capacity and efficiency.”
