Wildfires have become an increasingly pressing issue for Georgia, posing a threat to the property and lives of Georgian citizens. To help the local government combat wildfires, the U.S. Government has donated a $232,170 firetruck, equipped with four-wheel drive and enhanced fire-fighting capabilities suitable for use in mountainous terrain.
A/DCM Catherine Schweitzer and Defense Attaché COL Stephanie Bagley participated in the hand-over ceremony in which the truck was delivered to Georgia’s Emergency Management Service. The donation of this truck, as well as six high-mobility Toyota Land Cruisers earlier in the year, was made possible through the U.S. Department of Defense’s Humanitarian Assistance program, aiming to improve emergency preparedness capabilities of Georgia.
